A sudden flash flood carrying mud and debris has struck the Budhigandaki River in Gorkha's Chumnubri Rural Municipality on Ashwin 25, threatening downstream settlements along its corridor. The rising floodwaters originate from Ward 6 of Chumnubri and pose an immediate risk to riverside communities extending all the way to Arughat and the Trishuli river confluence.

In response to the escalating situation, government disaster management agencies have mobilized rapid warning systems. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has issued an urgent advisory instructing residents in vulnerable settlements—including Sirdibas, Jagat, Yari, Tatopani, Machhikhola, Soti, Arukhet, and Arughat—to adopt high alertness and move to safer, elevated grounds. Concurrently, the Flood Forecasting Division has dispatched emergency SMS alerts warning citizens to avoid riverbank areas until the water recedes.

Alongside disaster coordination, the government has activated medical emergency protocols to address health hazards in the affected zones. The Ministry of Health has put the Health Emergency Operation Center into active operation to coordinate necessary medical care, emergency treatment, and health assistance. Authorities have urged residents across the affected river basin to exercise strict caution and have established a toll-free hotline at 1115 for immediate emergency medical support.

As river levels continue to rise, ongoing administrative coordination and community compliance with safety protocols will remain critical to mitigating potential loss of life and property in the region.
