India, Nepal sign MoUs for 11 new community projects worth NRs. 1.16 billion
Kathmandu | November 10, 2025 — Nepal and India have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for 11 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in the fields of education, health, and waste management, with a combined value of NRs. 1.16 billion under the Government of India’s grant assistance.

The signing ceremony was held between the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Nepal’s Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and respective project implementing agencies.
The projects include the construction of schools, hospitals, health posts, and a waste management centre across all seven provinces—ranging from Kalikot and Kanchanpur to Ilam and Baglung. Among them are the Ilam Hospital Emergency Block, Triyuga Municipal Hospital, and several secondary schools in Jhapa, Darchula, and Rautahat.

Since 2003, India has implemented 590 community projects across Nepal, of which 502 have already been completed, significantly contributing to local development in health, education, drinking water, and sanitation sectors.
The Embassy stated that these initiatives reaffirm India’s commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties and supporting Nepal’s efforts in empowering local communities through improved infrastructure and public services.
