Indian General's Landmark Visit to Nepal: Major Military Talks & Veteran Support
In a high-profile visit that took place from 30th September to 5th October 2024, Maj Gen Charanjeet Singh Dewgun, YSM, Colonel of the Regiment of the 3rd Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army, landed in Kathmandu for a six-day official tour. Welcomed by Col V Subramaniam, India’s Defence Attaché to Nepal, Maj Gen Dewgun's visit sparked significant military discussions and brought major announcements for ex-servicemen in Nepal.
The General toured Pokhara, where he felicitated Gallantry awardees and Veer Naris during an ex-servicemen rally, emphasizing the expansion of healthcare services for veterans through the ECHS Polyclinics. His visit further included a high-level meeting with General Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief of Army Staff of the Nepal Army, at the NA Headquarters. The discussions centered around enhancing the military-to-military relationship between the two nations.
Maj Gen Dewgun concluded his visit by commending the Indian Defence Wing in Nepal for its professional excellence in strengthening bilateral ties and supporting ex-servicemen.
