Mysterious Disappearance: Why Did Dr. Ramji Timilsina Plan a Water Immersion

Dr. Ramji Timilsina, a resident of Aapgachhi, Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City 2, Sunsari, has been missing since Wednesday. He left a note at home saying, "I am taking a water immersion at Barahakshetra. Goodbye," before disappearing.

Dr. Timilsina is an associate professor at Tribhuvan University. After finding the note, his family filed a missing person's report at the Itahari Area Police Office. According to his family, he left the note near his computer early in the morning and has been missing since.

The Itahari Area Police Office reported that the search operation began as soon as the report was filed on Wednesday. The family has provided a description and a photo of Dr. Timilsina, and his mobile phone is still active. "The location shows the same spot," the police mentioned.

Dr. Timilsina taught at Mahendra Multiple Campus in Dharan. The reason behind his intention to take a water immersion remains unclear, and his family has not provided any further details. Dr. Timilsina holds a PhD in Diaspora Studies and is known for his interest in literary criticism. His disappearance has caused great concern among his well-wishers.

The Sunsari police are conducting a search around the Barahakshetra temple area. As of Thursday evening, his phone is still ringing, leading to the suspicion that he may be hiding somewhere.

Sunsari District Police Chief, SP Bipin Regmi, stated, "Both we and the family are conducting an extensive search."

On Friday, many people in Dharan and Itahari posted messages on Facebook expressing their hopes for his safe return. Rajesh Bidrohi, an associate professor at Mahendra Multiple Campus, wrote on Facebook, "Ramji Sir, please return safely. You still have much to contribute to Nepali literature."

Those who know Dr. Timilsina reported that there had been longstanding conflicts within his family. Linguist Prof. Dr. Tank Nyaopane also mentioned hearing about these family issues. The exact reason behind his decision to take a water immersion remains unknown.
