Millions Poured into Nepal’s Disaster Fund! Banks and India Join Hands for Unprecedented Relief Efforts
Nepal SBI Bank, LIC Nepal Limited, and the Embassy of India have united to provide substantial financial assistance for relief efforts aimed at supporting citizens affected by the recent floods, landslides, and heavy rainfall across Nepal.
Nepal SBI Bank has contributed NPR 25 lakhs to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund to aid victims of these natural calamities. In an official handover ceremony, Mr. Dipak Kumar De, Managing Director and CEO of Nepal SBI Bank, presented the cheque to Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli. Accompanying Mr. De were senior bank officials, including Deputy CEO Mr. Rajesh Kumar Panda and Chief Financial Officer Mr. Yadvender Kant, among other executives.
Similarly, LIC Nepal Limited extended its support by donating NPR 31 lakhs (3.1 million) to the Prime Minister's Divine Disaster Relief Fund. This contribution is earmarked for relief and rehabilitation initiatives for those affected by the devastating floods, landslides, and drowning incidents caused by continuous heavy rainfall in various regions of Nepal. The LIC Nepal team, led by senior officials, handed over the cheque to Prime Minister Oli in a separate ceremony.
Additionally, the Embassy of India has reiterated its commitment to supporting Nepal's disaster relief efforts. Through a statement on social media, the embassy emphasized India's readiness to assist its neighbor in this time of crisis, underscoring the deep friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
These collective efforts by financial institutions and Nepal’s close neighbor demonstrate solidarity in the face of adversity. The contributions will play a vital role in the recovery and rebuilding of communities affected by these recent natural disasters.
