Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Sheng Kang, Secretary of the Qinghai Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and a central member, in Kathmandu. During the meeting, Prachanda emphasized the need to implement previous agreements between Nepal and China, stating that Nepal is keen to learn from China's development experience.

The meeting took place at Prachanda's residence in Khumaltar, where he reaffirmed his commitment to executing bilateral agreements despite the ups and downs in Nepal's internal politics. Prachanda also highlighted how, during the people’s war, they studied the history of the Chinese Communist Party and Mao Zedong's writings extensively, and the Maoist Centre is eager to learn from China’s socialism in establishing a socialism with Nepali characteristics.

In response, Secretary Kang stressed the importance of strengthening the friendship between the two countries and suggested that Nepal could benefit from China's new phase of development. He also pointed out that the primary reason behind China's development is the Chinese Communist Party's leadership. He mentioned that the party’s strict stance on corruption has increased the public’s trust in the government.

Senior Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Vice Chairwoman Pampha Bhusal, and Deputy General Secretaries Janardan Sharma and Shakti Bahadur Basnet were also present during the meeting from the Maoist Centre. The Chinese delegation included Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song and other representatives.

Earlier, the Chinese delegation had a courtesy meeting with Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of the Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister.

Mr. Kang and his delegation arrived in Kathmandu yesterday morning via an Air China flight from Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel hosted a dinner in their honor at Hotel Dwarika's last evening. This morning, the delegation is scheduled to meet Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Baluwatar, followed by participation in a conference at Hotel Yak & Yeti later in the afternoon.

Secretary Kang will also attend an event at the Janakalyan Secondary School this afternoon. In the evening, the delegation will enjoy dinner at Bajeko Sekuwa in Battisputali, followed by a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square. Tomorrow morning, the delegation plans to visit Swayambhunath and Bhaktapur Durbar Square before heading to Tribhuvan International Airport for their return to China via a Thai Airways flight to Bangkok. The delegation has been accommodated at Hotel Marriott in Naxal during their stay.
