The Foundation Stone for the construction of a new school building for Shree Gokuleshwor Secondary School, located in Shailyashikhar Municipality-9 of Darchula district in Sudurpaschim Province, was jointly laid today by Mr. Basist Nandan, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Mr. Bijay Singh Dhami, Mayor of Shailyashikhar Municipality.
The educational infrastructure project is being constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India amounting to approximately NPR 75 million. Executed as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), the construction work will be implemented directly through the Shailyashikhar Municipality. This project marks the 11th High Impact Community Development Project undertaken by India in the Darchula district of Nepal.
Following the ceremony, the Mayor of Shailyashikhar Municipality and local stakeholders expressed their appreciation for the developmental support extended by the Government of India. Representatives conveyed confidence that the upgraded facility would significantly enhance the learning environment for both students and educators across Shailyashikhar Municipality.
The initiative falls under the multi-sectoral cooperation framework between neighboring nations India and Nepal. According to the Embassy of India, the implementation of such community development projects reflects India's continued support for the Government of Nepal's ongoing efforts to promote socio-economic growth and expand infrastructure within priority public sectors.
